"The
darkroom"
An exhibition of personal
memories. Photographs developed in my own darkroom and meticulously printed
on glossy paper with all the love that went with it. Women in high heels on
bar stools piqued my interest from an early age and have inspired me
throughout my life as an artist. Also featured are scenes with women I loved.
In Spain, there’s an expression: “She’s a Gilda,” referring to the
overwhelming physical beauty that makes a woman dominant in an otherwise
male-dominated world. Rita Hayworth in a 1946 film. Two portraits honoring
the Moscow pianist Ekatarina Mechetina. And finally, a life-size portrait of
the unsurpassed Portuguese author Fernando do Pessoa: “It’s been a long time
since I’ve been myself.”
